The activation binding and fusion of the sperm causes movement of the cortical granules to prevent further sperm penetration. Egg completes meiosis and the 2nd polar body is extruded. The 2 pronuclei come together, the membranes break down and chromosones align on a common spindle. Cell divisions then occur by mitosis.
